The Monthly Wish: March 2021

Your generosity powers our mission, so we’re making sure we use your gifts wisely. Here’s a wish-list of items for our shelters, updated monthly so you can see what we need most and where you can make the biggest impact.
What’s new in March? Last month we started offering hot coffee, hot cocoa, and/or hot soup to anyone who came in from the cold, even if they weren’t a guest. The program was incredibly popular, especially during the sub-zero temperatures, and we want to keep it going. We need hot chocolate in packets, all the coffee we can get, instant soup that can be microwaved in its own container, and disposable spoons.
In other news, the microwave in our Juno House shelter started making growling noises, and we’re hoping to get a new one before it bites someone. We inventoried our shelter kitchens and found a severe shortage of forks and spoons (but a big surplus of knives – where did they all come from?). Someone generously donated big boxes of coffee pods, and now we’re looking for a pod coffee maker. Here’s the full list:
We have an urgent and ongoing need for these items

30-gallon garbage bags
Wash cloths
Coffee, creamer, sugar in small bags
Bottled water
Underwear
Dishwasher pods, laundry pods, disinfecting wipes, disinfecting spray, mop solution
We especially need these items in March
Hot chocolate in packets, instant soup that can be microwaved
Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee
Metal spoons and forks, but not knives
Plastic spoons
Pod coffeemakers
Brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners
Unused microwaves
Major impact items we need
Unused large freezers (we currently need 4)
Unused refrigerator with freezer (we currently need 2)
Unused dishwasher (we need 2)
Unused garbage disposer (1)
We don’t need any of these items right now

Food that is expired or within 2 weeks of expiring
